It would be interesting to see the differences between the ay-3-8600 (8 games) and the ay-3-8610 (10 games). There are some ay-3-8600 based consoles with 10 games, so it would be interesting to understand if the ay-3-8600 is so different from the ay-3-8610 or not. (as shown here: https://retroordenadoresorty.blogspot.com/2023/10/consola-pong-maree-video-pinball-10.html) Are enough some nand/nor ports to add the two rifle games to an ay-3-8600 or the two games are someway hidden into the ay-3-8600 itself?
Yes, thank you. Here one of the consoles that show this "strange" behaviour: https://retroordenadoresorty.blogspot.com/2023/10/consola-pong-maree-video-pinball-10.html Look also the comments of the blog page.
That ad is strong evidence that the shooting games were already in 8600. Maybe there was a small design error that needed to be corrected, or maybe marketing just wanted another product. We'll know if it's the former if there is a difference on the 8610 die.

The only difference in pinout is that pin 22 is "do not connect" on AY-3-8600. I'll try to get an 8610 to decap for comparison.
